There was a second world title and world record for the outstanding Megan Giglia as the Great Britain Cycling Team enjoyed another excellent day at the 2016 UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships in Italy.

Giglia added to her world title in the C3 individual pursuit with a stunning display in today’s 500 metre time-trial. The second rider off, she set an unbeatable time of 41.761 which was too much for Denise Schindler who finished in second place with a time of 43.159.

Giglia was delighted to win another world title and pleased with a second world record at this week’s championships.

Giglia later finished sixth in her final event, the scratch race.

Great Britain Cycling Team set for Apprentice world cup in Derby

Over 50 Great Britain Cycling Team Apprentices will take part in an Apprentice world cup at the Derby Velodrome from 19-20 March.

The two days of coach-led racing offers the sprint and endurance riders a rare experience of the pressures of a competition scenario but with a focus on development.

The Apprentices involved are part of British Cycling’s Rider Route, which helps the most promising riders become the stars of world and Olympic cycling.

Aged from 14-15, the riders will be split into teams and ride over two days in a format similar to a UCI Track Cycling World Cup event. The event gives Apprentices an opportunity to ride in events that are not frequently available in the regular youth season, such as the team pursuit and team sprint.
