Plan to make Derbyshire the cycling capital of the UK unveiled at Derby’s velodrome

A 15-YEAR plan to make Derbyshire the cycling centre of the country has been launched at Derby Arena.

Health, fitness, transport and tourism have all been considered for the programme, which will transform services in the county between now and 2030.

The document has been drawn up by the county’s authorities and cycling organisations and was unveiled at an event at Derby Arena inside the velodrome.

Paracyclist Katie Toft was at the event and said she was impressed by the strategy.

Miss Toft, 22, of High Peak, suffers from cerebral palsy and was inspired to start cycling after watching Sir Bradley Wiggins in the Tour de France and Olympics in 2012.
