Derby Velodrome to host Revolution Series opening round

The newly opened Derby Arena will host the first round of the 2015/16 Revolution Series, with a host of Olympic medallists set to compete.

The velodrome, which cost £28m to build and can seat 1,500 spectators, opened in March and will hosts its first major track event between August 14-16 when the Revolution Series comes to town.

For Team GB’s track stars the meet will be an chance to gain all-important UCI track points on the road to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Riders require 90 UCI points by September 15 to qualify to ride in the UCI Track World Cup series this winter, through which they can obtain Olympic qualification points.
